Communication
Parental engagement has a positive impact on children’s learning and is vital to their success. We work collaboratively with families in a variety of ways to support you and your child throughout their time at Oakfield.
We aim to provide clear, specific, meaningful and up-to-date information about your child’s progress, school and extracurricular activities, and how parents can get involved with their child’s learning and school community.
ClassDojo
ClassDojo is the digital sharing platform we use to connect with parents and guardians (available on the web or as an iOS / Android app). You can:
- View photos and updates from your class teacher
- Receive calendar reminders and updates from the leadership team about school events
- Engage with your class teacher and other staff through the messaging service
- View multiple student accounts in one place, if you have more than one child at the school
- Translate the information if English isn’t your first language.
Children can earn ‘Dojo Points’ for positive behaviour, and each class will have a target to achieve before choosing a rewarding activity to do in the classroom.
Arbor
Arbor is the platform we use for ordering and paying for school meals and trips, booking for events, and ordering planners (we are a cashless school). You can also view your child’s attendance statistics on the app.
Parents' Meetings
Held near the start and end of the academic year, at the end of the school day. You can book a 10-minute appointment with your child's teacher to discuss their progress.
Express Afternoons
Held on the last Friday of each half-term, you can visit your child’s classroom to view their work and chat to the teacher. (These can be replaced by events where parents are invited, such as Harvest Festival, Christingle, and Sports Day. Information will be posted on ClassDojo).
Celebration Assemblies
Held every fortnight, parents/guardians of children that will be receiving an award from their teacher are invited to a special assembly in the school hall on Friday afternoon from 2.45pm to 3pm.
For the final Celebration Assembly of each half-term, teachers will pick two pieces of exceptional work that have been done by pupils in their class to be put into a special gold frame, which will be proudly displayed in our reception area for the following half-term. Then the children can take them home!
